Company Overview
Diversified Healthcare Trust operates as a real estate investment trust (REIT) primarily focused on acquiring and managing properties within the healthcare sector. Its portfolio includes senior living facilities, medical office buildings, and various wellness centers. The company organizes its activities into three core divisions: the Office Portfolio, the Senior Housing Operating Portfolio (SHOP), and a Non-Segment category. The Office Portfolio encompasses properties designed for medical offices, which are leased to healthcare providers and related businesses, as well as life science facilities occupied by biotechnology laboratories and similar tenants. Through its SHOP segment, the trust oversees senior living communities that offer both short-term and long-term residential care along with a range of services for their occupants; in this arrangement, the company compensates an external operator to manage these properties on its behalf. Diversified Healthcare Trust was established on December 16, 1998, and its corporate headquarters are located in Newton, Massachusetts.
